COPY OF BJ1/H9.7.25. POINTS REGARDING APPEARANCE AND FINISH OF "NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I" CHASSIS. Extracts from S. original remarks. Extracts from By's reply. Further remarks by S. when again inspecting chassis on 7.7.25. Present: OJ. BJ. PN.{Mr Northey} Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} CWB. A.{Mr Adams} The aluminium water pump bracket casting has a poor finish. Improvement can be arranged for. I will bring this matter to attention of works. To be corrected by W. B. The aluminium lid{A. J. Lidsey} of the carburetter float chamber is ugly and cheap in appearance. It should be of brass. The words 'Rolls-Royce' should be taken from this lid{A. J. Lidsey} and placed in some equally prominent position, where they will not be liable to screw up into an upside down or sideways position to anyone standing at the side of the chassis. A matter of design and cannot be altered without R's consent. We consider this alteration very necessary. We will refer it to R.{Sir Henry Royce} C. The brass carburetter jet adjusting heads are very poor and light in appearance compared with the "Silver Ghost" type. A matter of design and cannot be altered with-out R's consent. We consider this alteration very necessary. We will refer it to R.{Sir Henry Royce} D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} All Bakelite parts about the chassis should be of the same colour. At present some are red, some are black, and the coil is brown. Moreover, some of the Bakelite terminals are red and some black. These parts are made of different materials. Chocolate brown are Bakelite, black are Vulcanite, the brown coil case is Stabilite. Bakelite can be made black if preferred Vulcanite can only be black. Stabilite is the best material for the coil case and must be this colour. We consider uniformity in colour desirable, as far as possible. The chocolate brown colour is preferred, next the black, and last the light brown. W. should please submit proposals for utmost uniformity on these lines. | ||
