Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}3/KWS.2.35. - 2 - (b) Prevention of magnetic interference. } SpectreCodename for Phantom III (c) Concave lighting. (d) Instruments of lighter weight. (e) Instruments with, or without, bezel and glass. Of these, we understand that you already have the concave lighting scheme. We feel it should be possible for you to say almost immediately whether that lighting scheme is better than what we have been having in the past. If it is, let us have it by all means. | SpectreCodename for Phantom III 2 We also understand that the light weight instrument is available immediately you decide that the trip mechanism troubles are over. It seems to us, therefore, that we could have immediately for the asking - except for the time Smiths will require to get it into production, which is no more than three months we understand - a slightly larger lighter instrument, having large trip figures with concave lighting, otherwise everything else as at present. Therefore we wish to have these immediately put in hand and not wait any longer for a different lay-out of instruments which involves the prevention of magnetic interference. Even so, with regard to this latter item, we understand Smiths have completely overcome this trouble already. All we have to do now apparently is to ascertain what our stocks of present instruments are, and to see that as soon as these are used up the new ones will come along. Will ROY{Sir Henry Royce} please let us know how we stand in this respect both as regards the 40/50 and 20/25 R-R and as regards the Bentley. The question of instruments with, or without, bezel can wait over in connection with the new facia-board scheme. We are quite satisfied for the moment to introduce all these improvements in the present scheme and present lay-out. We have seen Mr. Nichols of Smiths here this morning, and there would appear to be no reason why we should not immediately instruct them to put in hand instruments with these improvements, (contd) | ||
