XIII D Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth.16/KW. 28th February, 1936. The Borg & Beck Company Ltd., Tachbrook Road, Leamington Spa. For the attention of Mr. Barker. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 21st and 26th inst. We note your remarks concerning the engine timing marks and agree that it is probably more satisfactory for us to make these ourselves. We thank you for your recommendations regarding the procedure for making them. With regard to item (5) of your letter of the 21st, we did not mean in our previous letter to give the impression that we regard balance to within ½ oz. as being satisfactory for the 13½" friction plates. We trust that you will adjust the balance of these plates until they are apparently perfectly balanced when mounted on knife edges. We confirm that until we have had an opportunity of testing the steel oil slinger which we are making, we shall not require slingers on the 11" clutch. In connection with the question of steel supplies which you raise in your letter of the 26th, we have not been able to supply you with bulk quantities up to the present because we have only had our normal stock to draw upon. The steel makers' promise to us for bulk delivery was approximately one month after placing the order. This term has not yet expired. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
