Solution for the diamond mounting of road wheel shock dampers.

Sch. 138. we fear to decrease further the flexibility on which the dampers rely to maintain their bedding, hence the lugs on the suspension brackets are not considered advisable. It was first decided that nothing could be done until the road wheel shock damper was moved to the outside of the frame but since then we have looked into the matter again and found what appears to be a reasonable and easy solution which does not demand any additions to the existing forgings. This is shewn on LeC. 2973. attached. The crossmember couplings are moved out again to the position shown on LeC. 2911. and the damper anchorage shown on LeC. 2934. is repeated to complete the fixing of the damper. We have not included any alteration to provide for testing the frictional load of the damper as R.{Sir Henry Royce} does not think this is necessary. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
