BJ9/DP11.6.21.

I attach copy of Memorandum BS{A J. Barnes - Assistant Manager}8/CMS.6.21 concerning the use of Rapson tyres. Please let me know
(1) Whether the latest type of Rapson tyres have been tested at Derby.

(2) Whether these are considered to be likely to have such an effect on the chassis that we should advise our customers that the Guarantee is cancelled if Rapson tyres are used.

(3) Whether the use of these tyres is likely to affect the good name of R.R. cars by reason of the tyres making the car more uncomfortable to drive or ride in.

If you have not tried the latest type of Rapson tyres at Derby do you think it would be of assistance if whilst you are trying them we should also try a set in London, so that they might be tested from the technical point of view as well as the customers' point of view?

You will see that this matter is likely to arise fairly continuously in the future as the latest Rapson tyres with their guarantee of mileage is making them popular, and we therefore do not wish to inform our customers that we do not recommend Rapson tyres unless we have some very good reason for doing so.

Enclosure.

B.J.
