Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X4554. 25.11.31. MATERIAL FOR 'U' SERIES. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} called a Conference this morning in connection with the above, at which the following were present:- Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} mentioned that Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} had pointed out that since the output of the 20/25 H.P. chassis had now been increased to 4 per week on to test, we should require the word "go" from Sales not later than November 28th to order material for 'U' Series in order that continuity of output could be maintained, and it should, therefore, be decided whether further material should be ordered, and, if so, how many sets ? It was agreed that we ought not to depart from 18-G-4 specification and that we should order material for 100 chassis for 'U' Series, and go ahead with the work with the exception of the following:- GEAR-BOX. Owing to not being satisfied with certain details, we should hold work up on the gear-box, not go ahead with castings and forgings, but order billets for the gears. EXHAUST SYSTEM. This is to be held up for the time being. These cars will be fitted with the larger petrol tank, and it is hoped also they will have the rivetless bonnet. | ||
