Dear Mr. Blackith, Thank you for your letter of the 24th inst., enclosing a copy of your report on our discussion at Earls Court last Friday. I agree that too much trouble has been experienced with some material being released incorrectly by our Chemical laboratory, due, I find, to miscalculation of the copper content - a serious error which should never have happened. In view of this, I cannot object to your statement that we have been responsible for some of your difficulties. You will in turn, I feel sure, agree that your lack of experience in handling this alloy in the Foundry during melting and casting, has accounted for a considerable amount of scrap. You will recall that on one melt, the melting conditions were such that a 3% of Magnesium was lost during the remelting. That, however, is not likely to recur, and my excuse for mentioning it is that I cannot allow the statement to remain that we have not responded to your request for assistance, or that we have failed to give you information and help you in any way.
