HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X457 BY1C/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 3.12.26. 20 HP. STEERING CONNECTIONS INTER-RELATED WITH FRICTION TO PREVENT WOBBLES. You will have noticed that we have, in accordance with the agreement arrived at between Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} and ourselves, written BJ. on the question of introducing the friction on the pivot to damp out wobbles. He replied, and we have written again stating that the matter has been thoroughly considered and there can be no question about it being necessary. The point I am now writing about, however, is to make clear that I am not over-looking the fact at the moment that friction on the pivot may be entirely cut out in favour of friction on the cross steering balls and the ball on the side steering lever on the axle, so that if and when BJ. agrees, I do not propose to plunge in this matter until I have received assurance from you that you are of the opinion the right way to tackle replacements is friction on the pivot and not friction on the balls.
