BALLAST RESISTANCE WITH VITREOUS INSULATOR IN ONE PIECE AND THE WIRE FASTENED MECHANICALLY TO TERMINALS. Origin. The hard soldering operation of joining the wire has proved unsatisfactory, breakages having occurred in service. Experimental Test Report. Road Test Report. This method of connection is considered to be much superior to the old as it required considerable skill and experience to ensure that the brazed joint remained satisfactory in service.
