Bailey - Chief Engineer} BENTLEY IGNITION DISTRIBUTOR TO R.R.SCH.478. The modifications to the distributor embodied in the above scheme consist of the alteration to the main casting to accomodate the approved circular condenser made by the Telegraph Condenser Co.,. A Chromium plated contact breaker level pivot pin was also fitted. This distributor was run for 170 hrs. on the bench rig at a speed equivalent to 4000 R.P.M. of the engine. An examination of the distributor parts at the conclusion of this run shewed that the new condenser is operating quite satisfactorily the contact wear being only .005". The pivot pin and lever bush were also in good condition. It would be an improvement if the condenser could be lowered in the case slightly as the flexible connector is very close to the H.T. rotor. This distributor is now being fitted to a Bentley chassis for road testing. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. | ||
