X.3383. To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EH. c. to CJ. c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} C. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} EH3/LG.171018. RE BALL BEARINGS ON EPICYCLIC GEAR IN PLACE OF ROLLER BEARINGS+ X.3383/C/E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} X.1927. The "Condor" engine hag run for 6 hours since we fitted the ball bearings. This engine has been held up owing to leaking cylinders. We have an "Eagle" engine running with ball bearings in place of roller bearings. This engine has run for 12 hours. So far, the ball bearings appear to be in excellect condition. We ought to quickly complete a number of hours running on the "Eagle" engine. | ||
