PROGRAMME OF TEST BED WORK.

NO.30 BED.

B.III NO.1 UNIT.

Continue with programme as per previous memo.

B.III NO.6 UNIT.

New unit, later to be fitted into 2.B.50 unit.

Special parts incorporated are:-

(1) Monichrome camshaft running direct in the crankcase. (Cam otherwise EB.3466).

(2) Similar Monichrome cam wheel.

(3) Vandervell main bearings and rocker bushes.

After "running in" examine the bottom tappets and cams, then continue as follows:-

(a) Open exhaust and silenced power with best valve timing as found on B.III No.1.

(b) With std. B.II exhaust system and on Shell, check ignition advance for max. power, non detonation and governor curve with TDC setting.

(c) Oil consumption at 4000 R.P.M. for 1 hr., recheck if in excess of 2 pts.

(d) Check valve bounce speed.

(e) Timing gears, check for quietness, to be corrected if necessary, also note whether any rattle at low speeds full throttle.
