Re Faulty Batteries.

Mr. McKinnon came to inspect 39 faulty cells which we have accumulated during the past few months.

It was arranged between Mr. McKinnon and EFC. that the cells should be sent to the Chloride Coy., and that they should recondition as many as possible for us free of charge, and return them to us as complete batteries after reconditioning.

After some discussion with Mr. McKinnon it was arranged that the following procedure should be adopted in future :-

1. When a faulty cell is found in a battery, the whole battery should be replaced by one of their reconditioned batteries, instead of replacing single cells as we have done in the past.

2. These batteries must be kept filled with Electrolite until the day before Mr. McKinnon comes to inspect them, when they will be dismantled for his examination with EFC.

3. We shall keep in stock 12 reconditioned batteries to replace any batteries which are found to contain faulty cells.

4. The question of charges will be arranged as follows :-

If a battery has been in service 21 months, i.e. this is based on 18 months after the chassis has left our Works, and 3 months allowed for the chassis being at Coachbuilders, any faulty battery shall be paid for by the customer.

If a battery has been in use less than this time it should be put on one side until Mr. McKinnon comes along to inspect it with EFC. and they will decide how the charges are to be arranged after inspection.

Will Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} please issue the necessary instructions for the despatch of the abovementioned cells to the Chloride Coy.
