(11) Speed trials, and the Sluggard Car. Contd. with the modifications suggested by the Committee, was in the tracing department. 101st Meeting. Dec.19th.11. Mr Barrington informed the Committee that the heavier foot suggested by the Committee owing to the failure of this part on the Sluggard, has now been made standard, and a number of castings were already in. 102nd Meeting Dec.21st.11. Re failure of Sluggard Engine. Mr Barrington informed the Committee that Mr Swetnam had re-designed the broken engine foot in accordance with the Committee's recommendation. The alteration had been made to the pattern, and castings were delivered, but the Committee had not passed the modified drawings. He asked the Committee if this was in order, or whether he should instruct the chief draughtsmen that this and similar alterations should not be manufactured until passed by the Committee. The Committee agreed that the Chief Draughtsmen should be instructed that no alterations suggested by the Committee should be instructed to the Works until passed by the Committee.
