EFC. from Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} X3860 Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}8/NJ9.6.26. X.3860 - Maconita H.T.Cable. Referring to EFC1/T28.5.26 and the visit of Major Chandler and Mr.Beavor, of W.T.Glover & Co.Ltd. to these Works on 3rd inst., we wrote Glovers on the 4th inst. sending them the two samples of H.T. cables which you handed to me, both of which samples are labelled in Stores as being of Glover's manufacture. We drew their attention to the fact that one of the samples marked "A" has a longitudinal fin on each side; whereas the other sample marked "B" was perfectly smooth on the exterior and had no fin. We asked Glovers to say whether both cables were of their manufacture, adding that we have about 430 yards of cable like sample "A". We also drew Glovers attention to the fact that the insulation of the sample marked "B" was not concentric. We are now in receipt of Glover's reply dated 8th inst. a copy of which is attached. You will note that both samples are of Glover's manufacture, the explanation of the difference being that sample "A" has been made to an Air Ministry specification and does not correspond either as regards the conductor, diameter over insulation, or method of manufacture, with the high tension cables we use on our motor cars. ter.att.
