Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} To EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Sft.{Mr Swift} 20 HP. - TORQUE REACTION DAMPERS. We consider we should go slow in making any modification to the set [handwritten: setting] of these dampers. In the last paragraph of your memo. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}4/H19.2.24 you say - you wish to fix the damping device with only just sufficient damping to be effective. We do not think this would be a very good thing, because we know that the co-efficient of friction of the Ferodo will vary considerably especially if the least amount of oil or water gets on to the surfaces. Our experience is that the advantage to be gained by the minute adjustment of the torque reaction damper is hardly appreciable. We are quite prepared to alter our views if it can be proved that there is going to be a definite advantage. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
