-3- Ha/O.W.H./XT.B.1.32.cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Pedals. The bearings of the pedals were good, only a small amount of slack could be felt. Petrol Tank. The condition of the tank and suspension is good. Front Axle. A considerable amount of water had entered the hollow shaft of the front brake operating shaft situated on the front axle. The water had also entered the bearings causing corrosion of the shaft bearing to take place. There had been no shortage of lubrication. There has been plenty of lubrication to the pivot pins but one pin shows scouring marks on the bottom bearing. The brake toggle bearings made in aluminium had become scored although lubrication had been ample (these were an experiment). A considerable amount of oil had got onto the front brake shoes. This had come from the leak past the pivot pin bearing and draining down the outside of the brake anchorage plate, being sucked and blown into the drum. Rear Axle. The lubrication to the brake actuating shafts had been very poor, the bearings nearest to the brake had had practically no oil. A modification has recently been carried out to improve this condition as reported upon (re. 19.C.IV.) The brakes and drums were worn but had not scored the drums to any extent. Shock Absorbers. These are in a very good condition. The wearing pad of one has flaked slightly, the remainder are very good, a slight depression only on the pad being noticeable. Ha/O.W.H. | ||
