RE SWITCHBOX - 40/50 HP. CHASSIS.

We are returning under separate cover the model switch-box 40/50 H.P. The test for standardisation should not, however, be made on this particular model, but on an improved one incorporating the alterations already set out.

Referring to the spring blade bolts which also form the terminals for the conductors, these should be 3BA as on the original design Lec.1127. These bolts on the model are only 5BA. The 3BA conforms to the size that has been fixed for the terminals on the distribution board.

Referring to the nomenclature for the switches, Mr. Royce would like you to use the letters -

H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} S.& T.

instead of the words -

Head, Dynamo, Side and Tail.

so that the letters on the face of the switchbox can be larger for the purpose of facilitating die casting. These letters should be finished black on a black ground.

Referring to the plunger springs, it may be advisable to get out a set of springs softer than 4 lbs.

It is anticipated that the switch handles will not hurt the fingers when the desired alterations have been made to the plungers.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} (Contd.)
