X. 3634. Extract from E9/G21/8/19. RE CHASSIS 1 EX. - GENERAL NOTES. I am directed by Mr. Royce to send you information concerning the following points which we would like altered:- (3) TOOL KIT AND SPARE PETROL AND OIL. X. 1102. X. 3634. Mr. Royce thinks that something better can be done with the tool kit than the present scheme of a large elaborate leather roll, which takes up a lot of time in use and gives no indication regarding the correct packing of the tools. He suggests a wooden tray under the front seat, with a specially shaped recess for each tool, perhaps lined out with felt, somewhat similar to the case used for draughts-men's instruments. Regarding the tools themselves the new type broached box spanners were considered good, but should be made lighter. The tommy bars provided are considered to be too short. Mr. Royce wishes them to be made in good steel, if not already so. The tommy bars might be less in number, say, one large, and one small one, the larger one being used for most of the box spanners in the kit. The thickest tommy bar in the kit is of the right diameter for the large size, but not long enough. The sparking plug spanner should be of the broached type.
