E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/MN.25.2.37. Phantom III Rear Road Springs, Attachment to Axle. We send herewith LeC.5291 showing a modification to the forging on the underside of the rear road springs at their attachment to the rear axle. This forging was originally shown on N.Sch.4607, which design was strengthened on N.Sch.4875. The modification on LeC.5291 has the dual purpose of firstly, simplifying the forging by making the depressions all on one side, and secondly, by keeping the face of the forging next to the spring free from depressions in order that a rubber insert between the forging and the road spring may be used without the expense of filling in depressions in the forging with aluminium blocks. The connecting tubes to the rear roll rod and shock absorber remain unaltered from those already instructed on N.Sch.4875, and the lubrication is that shown on N.Sch.4647, both of which schemes were issued some long while ago.
