(1) Experiments on reducing the induction pipe pressure to be cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (a) 1 5/8 dia. chokes (Cut away air bend). (b) Induction branches as modified to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}314. (c) In the best condition what increase in induction pipe pressure is there when the modified air bend and silencer is fitted? With the derestricting modifications is the distribution at low and high speeds affected. (2) Repeat exhaust silencer tests for Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Whym. (3) It is contemplated to do away with the outside exhaust plug on the PHIII. Is the inlet plug on the 4 port heads as on this unit in the best position for ease of getting them in and out? Could the angle of inclination of the plugs be altered to be any more accessible with the types of plug spanner at present designed for the job? (4) Endeavour to find the reason why power on this engine is dropping and is not up to that obtained on the previous similar engine, No. 8 unit. PHIII No. 6. Unit to be sent into shop who are going to fit 2 blocks of Hykro tappets, following will be returned to the bed for endurance. No. 14 unit to be returned to the shop when the jobs laid down are completed and No. 6 is ready for the bed. | ||
