- 2 - Bentley Bed. B.9. Oil consumption tests to be carried out on this unit which has a cylinder block ground with head and crankcase in position. Run until a flat figure is obtained, then fit a standard production cylinder block and pistons, tests being repeated for comparison. B.19. Following the above, this unit will be the next one on test with a new crank to replace the one that failed on the previous running. If possible, we are retaining the existing AC5S mains, AC5S and AC6S big end bearing to continue running with them. --------- Will you please give a report on the special valve springs also std springs run in conjunction, including running times and failures up to date (Bentley). Will you please collect and send in all the information and running time on the special sparking plugs which have recently been tested for Wst on Ethyl. No. 30 Bed. OHC No.23 Bentley Unit. 1. Investigate internal water leaks. (a) Is this cured with new "corrujoint" (b) If not run side covers off the cylinder blocks. (c) If leak cannot be traced from this source remove the lower half and apply shop tackle for putting the unit under pressure. 2. Sketches to be made of the valve springs closely coiled at the base as per Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}260. 2 sets will be ordered from Tempered Spring Co in Swedish wire. The above in view of the surging and failures we have experienced. | ||
