Report on 22 Roller Assemblies ex,
Messrs. Hoffmann F.61471.

These have now been inspected and we have passed 16 as correct.

The six rejected assemblies are too heavily preloaded, similar to the one demonstrated to Mr.Smith which was No.29-30.

I also hand you herewith etched specimens of the two rollers you supplied for testing the depth of case hardening.

One of these is quite satisfactory, the other has been set up badly out of square for machining operations subsequent to the hardening with the result the case is rather thin on one side of inner ball track, and also on face of cam track.

I suggest you return this specimen to Hoffmanns for their comments.

Will Mr.Wallis issue disposal instructions to stores for the six returns.

The 16 assemblies which are correct are being placed in stock.

The numbers of rejected assemblies are 21-22, 25-26, 29-30, 31-32, 33-34, 39-40.
