With reference to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/EEW.12.5.41, our attention has been drawn to the fact, that where an employee desires to leave or is to be discharged, the forms obtained from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/NS{Norman Scott} have been handed to the employee, and he has been told to go to the Employment Exchange who "will give you your discharge". This method of procedure is entirely incorrect as it does not provide the necessary information in the space for employer's and employees' comments. The forms must be fully completed and returned to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/NS.{Norman Scott} Where an employee wishes to leave, we are asked to state on the form if we agree. This statement must be definite, such as "We have no objection to (name of employee) leaving the service of the Company", it is not sufficient to say "We approve of the above application". Although it is necessary to obtain the Company's consent for any employee wishing to volunteer for service in H.M. Forces, it is also necessary to first obtain the consent of the National Service Officer before such employee goes to the Recruiting Officer, so that the employee may produce to the Recruiting Officer the National Service Officer's decision giving him permission to leave. The Company are unable to give their permission until the decision of the National Service Officer has been obtained. A special form can be obtained from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/NS{Norman Scott} to report bad cases of absenteeism and lateness. The form should be fully completed by the Superintendent or Foreman and returned to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/NS.{Norman Scott} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
