summer I condemned it for an RR; the Bentley then was to be a small supercharged which we failed to produce so fell back on this unit which was available because there was not time to do anything else, but instead of keeping it rough it seems to have become very RR-like.

I shall look forward to trying car again as soon as these points have been attended to. As I felt that all had been gained that could be and as weather looked dull and inclined to rain decided not to go away for week-end.

Am returning the reports with a few notes on, the main item that rings true is that No.1 Car was good enough for production.

The reports are rather contradictory - for instance Messervy says "general line and appearance beyond reproach" and LHS{Lord Herbert Scott} and others appear to disapprove; I fear one cannot possibly please every one on some of these points any more than you can on colours etc.

Sorry to inflict such a long letter on you, please send copies to all concerned and I would remind you of our old points, i.e. Will we sell more 20/25's and B's collectively (if we get main criticisms of B. O.K.) than if we sold no B's at all.

My main worry is that the Drs. won't let me come back and get into the thick of it but am sure that the difficulties can all be straightened out. As LHS{Lord Herbert Scott} says for it not to affect [unclear] to any serious extent the 20/25 Bales we must have the higher speed, more noise and small bodies - this we have always realised but on this car we have lost speed and noise (as on No.1) and also got got wandering steering such as no one would tolerate.

Yours sincerely,

(Sgd) Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}
