SIR G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} STANLEY WHITE. BT{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer} (MANAGING DIRECTOR.) Your Ref. Our Ref. ENGINES F/ET/80. 2nd May, 1940. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham, Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Robotham, Further to our recent correspondence in regard to my Bentley, the car is running pretty well now, but is rattling both in the engine and the chassis, especially the former. I have not been very far in the car, but it is practically back to what it was before. I presume the car is beginning to suffer from anno domini. I have had the body all done up, and it looks as good as new, but I do not know quite what to do about it. Would you advise me to run on with the present car this year, and is it going to be possible to get a new chassis later on? I spoke to Hives about this when I was at Rotol last, and he promised that he would take the matter up with you. I am perfectly satisfied with the car for the present, but I do not want to lose an opportunity, if it is possible, to get an up-to-date chassis. I do not think it is worth while changing for an ordinary 4¼-litre, because my present car is distinctly better than several of my friends' 4¼-litres that I have driven. Yours sincerely, [Signature] | ||
