Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} X4262 Re. D.F.P. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}5/H18.1.22. Confirming our telephone conversation this morning, I have received information from Mr. Evans as follows:- "I will arrange to call on the D.F.P. people and find out the exact position re Trial Run. The D.F.P. I have is a 12.1 H.P. bore and stroke 70x130m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} The 10/12 HP. is the type you mention, bore and stroke 65 x 120 m/m, R.A.C. rating 10.4 HP. c.c. 1592, wheel track 4', approximate weight 11 1/2 cwt., 4.28 to 1 top gear ratio, wheel base 9'. Since dictating the above I have seen D.F.P. and they can arrange a trial run for you at any time if you will give me a day's notice." To which I have replied as follows:- "I was rather surprised to note the gear ratio which you specify as 4.28 to 1 for the 10.4 HP. This seems rather high, are you sure this is right? I shall certainly be pleased to take advantage of your offer to arrange a trial run, and will give you a day's notice, but there is no hurry for this at present as the car in any case is not required until about the middle of March. I will try and arrange that such a trial can be brought in conveniently when either Mr. Hives or myself are calling at London. What prospects are there for the delivery of such a car? Further to the 10.4 HP. What is the room for the body behind the dash, also dash board to centre of rear axle? What is the height of the frame from the ground, the size of the wheels, the position of the steering wheel in relation to the dash and frame? Can the car be obtained with disc wheels? A 2-seater body would be required to have a proper wind-screen and hood, which when "UP" is attached to the wind screen and weather-proof. Is it possible to have a lower geared axle than 4.28 to 1 ? We would prefer one about 5.25 to 1. Can you let me have particulars of the 10.HP. Peugeot chassis? " EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
