Dear Sir,

Further to my letter of the 4th instant, our Engineer has now received replies from several of his Appointed Inspecting Engineers, and the general opinion is that providing the belt adjustment receives attention from time to time, it is a most satisfactory drive, and in no case have they come across a car which has been put out of action through failure of the pump drive.

One of our Engineers mentions he was called in on two or three occasions where overheating of an engine when travelling at high speeds was experienced, and it was found that this was due to the belt slipping on the pump pulley at high speeds; at low speeds it functioned quite correctly. Tension of the belt immediately overcame the trouble.

Another of our Engineers mentions that he has driven his 25 h.p. car 27,000 miles with this particular type of drive, and the belt is still in excellent condition, and he has not had to take up any slackness, although, of course, there is adjustment provided.
