X1300 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer}3/KW. 24th March, 1936. Your Ref: FGM/ANR/CJ. The Adamant Engineering Co.Ltd., Dallow Rd., Luton, Beds. For the attention of F.W. Jackson Esq. Dear Sirs, Re your letter of the 20th inst. concerning a drop arm which we have sent to you. We wish to confirm that this drop arm is for use with the gear specified in our Order No.11293. We herewith attach a print of our Ex.21856, showing which is the large end of the taper and the angular position of the splines. Concerning the second paragraph of your letter in which you point out that the boss of the lever sent to you is only 1.000" wide, whereas it should be 1.187", we agree that this is so and that a mistake has been made at this end. However, the 1.000" wide boss will be quite satisfactory for the purpose of testing the gear, so will you please proceed with the machining on the assumption that the 0.187" has been left off the large end of the taper. We hope that the above clears up the various points and that you will be able to let us have the gear at an early date. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
