R.R. 238 (24 B) (WW. 755. 15-9-14) E.P. 7218. ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. INSTRUCTIONS. To Order No. Customer's No. increased, which tends to clamp out the oscillation, but we do not consider this a very desirable practice if it can be avoided, as the wear on the balls is increased. A & N have been into the matter so exhaustively we can only suggest that we send them a new side steering tube of the H series, normal type. This has stiffer springs although the pressure on the balls is not materially greater. We do not wish to make a practice of fitting these tubes to earlier cars till all the known remedies have been tried. The spring in the new tubes cannot be fitted in earlier type tubes. I have discussed this matter very fully with Mr Bellringer & Mr Day. Signed HPB This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. | ||
