Re Steering Wobble on 2025E (recently at N)
We are of opinion that the wobble is the result of the extra weight of the Palmer tyres, + that it is controlled by the springs in the side steering tube.
The heavier the tyre, the stronger the springs in the side steering tube should be.
It should be made clear that packing a spring with washers has not quite the same effect as a stiffer spring, as if a spring be packed the pressure on the ball ends is greatly increased, but the "rate", or number of pounds per inch deflection, remains unaltered, whereas a stiffer spring might exert no greater pressure on the balls, but its "rate" would be greater.
It is true that packing side steering tube springs does in some cases reduce or cure a wobble, as the natural period is altered thereby, + also the friction on the balls is
