BUMPER TEST ON AMERICAN TYPE FRONT ROAD SPRINGS. X3900 X.8772 X840

Conditions of test as all previous tests i.e. 105 drum revs/min., tyre pressures 60 lbs/sq.in., weight of front of chassis 15 cwts. 1 qr. 24 lbs.

Particulars of springs.

(1) Chinese American spring - 1150 lbs. Initial camber 3 31/32
Silico Manganese. Drg. No. A.{Mr Adams} 8546.
On N/S ran 8 hrs. 16 mins. Top leaf broke 7" from rear.

(2) As (1) 1160 lbs. Initial camber 3 5/8".
On O/S ran 9 hrs. 46 mins. Top leaf broke 9" from rear.

(3) T.F. & S. Design. 1090 lbs. Initial camber 3 5/16".
Silico Manganese. Drg. No. A.{Mr Adams} 8546.
On N/S ran 13 hrs. 50 mins. Top leaf broke 7" from rear.

(4) As (3) 1100 lbs. Initial camber 3 5/16".
On O/S ran 13 hrs. 10 mins. Top leaf broke near centre bolt.

(5) Spring made exactly to instructions on the American sheets.
1351 lbs. Initial camber 4 3/32" Silico Manganese.
Drg. A.{Mr Adams} 8546.
On N/S ran 8 hrs. 46 mins. Top leaf broke near centre bolt.

(6) As (5) 1400 lbs. Initial camber 4 1/8".
On O/S ran 6 hrs. 30 mins. Top leaf broke near centre bolt.

Average life of the above six springs 10 hrs. 3 mins.
