TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} [struck through] FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} EFC. (Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence Copy to CJ. Fd.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} [struck through] WCR. R5/M30.3.26. Delivered to WW. during the Easter holiday. PHANTOM AUTO: ADVANCE [Handwritten]: X8685 X8796 In addition to my recent memo. it appears manifest that if the magneto has a suitable spring on its rocker to overcome its friction in the direction of the armature rotation holding it against its controls it cannot move due to slackness in the control joints, but without any friction might move slightly due to elasticity. This would be damped by the slight friction of the cover spring over the contact maker. With 7-EX. all seems well and silent, and the relay motor seems as if it can if necessary be made to work with 5 to 10 lbs. oil pressure. You will see that this apparatus is now much more satisfactory in spite of obstruction. R.{Sir Henry Royce} [Stamp]: ORIGINAL [Stamp]: RECEIVED 8 APR 1926 | ||
