TO DY.{F R Danby} (struck through) FROM AJS C. to - [obscured]/RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} re. ELECTRIC WELDING. [Stamp] ORIGINAL AJS1/M29.3.26. [Handwritten] X7310 [Handwritten] X 1699 In the design of the new EAC. 7. gearbox that we are getting on with we find that the striking forks, and the guide portion of which they are an integral part, make a very inconvenient forging in some cases, but if the pieces could be electrically welded as indicated they would become extreme-ly simple. We should therefore be very much obliged if you would kindly give the sketch hereunder your attention with a view to letting us know if you consider such a proposition reasonable and can be carried out with uniform efficiency, because if so, it will save us not only a complicated built up piece, but the extra space, and therefore extra material entailed by this. [Handwritten text on sketch] SKETCH INDICATES PRINCIPLE ONLY AJS SAME DIAS. WELDED AT INCREASED DIA. DIAS. ARE APPROX.
