Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.9/JH. 8th January, 1937. Messrs. S. Smith & Sons Ltd., Cricklewood Works, LONDON. N.W.2. For the attention of Mr. Grose. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letters of Dec. 31st. and the 6th inst., the contents of which we have noted. The thermostat which you mention therein has now come to hand. We would like you to send us a third thermostat to X.30065 but having a valve aperture of 1 1/4" dia. and an opening temperature of 78°C - 80°C. We are sending you an official order for this immediately. We are not very satisfied with the range of opening temperature which you quote i.e. opening at 83 and full open at 98°C., this means a range of 15°C. On the units of different types which we have already experimented with the range has been 10°C - 11°C. If you can improve this we should like you to do so. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
