To C. From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hives. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/MJ.14.2.31. Re. Carless, Capel, & Leonard. C.4/Cll.2.31. Replying to the above memo, the position as regards petrol for aero engines is that firstly the petrol must comply with the A.M. specification, and secondly, we have found by experience that even fuels which comply to the same specification may give variation in results. On aero engines the fuel is very critical. We have all sorts of A.I.D. regulations, and our difficulties would be greatly increased if we jumped about with different fuels. It was laid down some time ago that we could not afford to take this risk and that as far as aero engines we should standardise Shell petrol. There is no harm in the Carless people coming to see us, but we cannot promise them any business on the aero engine side. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
