I saw Mr.Leonard yesterday and explained the difficulties.

What he felt rather hurt about was that you had not replied to his letter when he asked for an appointment, or to his follow-up.

I told him the result of the laboratory test and explained to him that it is a difficult matter for us to try out the oils from the various Companies, because we had to have quite a long experience with them before we could adopt them, quite apart from the laboratory test.

They run six Rolls-Royce cars in the family, so that they are quite well worth our while studying as far as we can, and the suggestion he made is:

We use quite a lot of aviation spirit. This aviation spirit is a tested and guaranteed quality by the Air Ministry so that we can be quite assured that it will at least be up to the standard of similar spirit we get from other Companies and the Ministry inform them that theirs is better than most. He says that so far as price is concerned, there is a standard rate among the Combine (of which they form a part) so that they are able to supply the petrol at the same price as any other firm, and in view of the fact that they use so many of our cars they ought to have a share of our business.

Will you please give the matter further consideration and discuss with the necessary Departments and let me know what you suggest.

C.
