combined but cut-out and junction box are separate. This is the scheme for which we had proposed sending Messrs. Smith a diagram of the internal connections of the combined switchbox and ammeter for them to make us up a sample unit.

(2) Your telegram suggests the combination of distribution board and Smith cut-out used in conjunction with the present experimental R.R. switchbox with combined ammeter. This is represented in diagram labelled (2). The point in question is as to whether you had in your mind the inclusion of the functions now performed by the Lucas junction box in the suggested distribution board.

(2) (Non-earthed). This arrangement at any rate for the non-earthed scheme would, perhaps, make rather too large a distribution board, and would interfere with the present arrangement of wiring more than if the Lucas junction box were retained. We have, therefore, shown the arrangement with the Lucas junction box retained in diagram (2). The distribution board will then contain the cut-out and both positive and negative connections, also main dynamo fuse, and would, one would think, be quite a large enough unit. In developing the Smith dynamo system for the non-earthed wiring, would you therefore agree to this arrangement? This being the case, we will immediately on hearing from you scheme out the connections of this
