We have your telegram with regard to the future electrical equipment. With regard to the first point mentioned, as already explained to you by Mr. Hives in his Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG20.7.20, lamps for the earthed wiring scheme are not easily available in this country, at any rate, these cannot be obtained from Messrs. Lucas and we should probably be tied down to obtaining these specially from the C.A.V. Co.

Regarding the adoption of the Smith dynamo, we are all anxious for this, but with the least modification to the existing system, and it was for this reason that the first alternative outlined in our EFC12/T24.7.20 was suggested as being the most feasible scheme, as this is adaptable to our present wiring system without very much change. However, as we are still not clear in exactly what direction we should proceed, we are putting before you five rough single line diagrams of various modifications:-

(C) Represents our present standard arrangement in which switchbox and cut-out are combined but ammeter and junction box are separate.
