3. 8. Brakes squeak (front). March Quarter. C.C. 4 C.P. Previous Quarter. C.C. 7 C.P. Six months. II B.59.DK - 10,440 Kms. Rebedded the liners B.85.EJ - 3,336 Kms. " " B.73.EJ - 7,831 Kms. " " Excess of mud on brake mechanism was the cause of the trouble on B.73.EJ B.59.EJ - 2,303 Kms. Rebedded the liners. We agree with Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} that rebedding or relining shoes may reduce tendency to squeak but it is not a per-manent cure and in some cases the trouble occurs after only a short service of the car. As per our memo Sr/VAI/ET.15.1.36, we sent Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} a report concerning brake squeaks. 9. Brakes squeak (rear). March Quarter. C.C. 4 C.P. March Quarter. C.C. C.P. Previous Quarter. C.C. C.P. Six months. N i l . 11. Clutch fierce and slips. March Quarter C.C. 3 C.P. Previous Quarter C.C. 4 C.P. I Six months 8 As per our Sr/VA2/ET.31.I.36 we sent a full report to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} concerning the failure of the "light type" clutch on chassis B.160.EF. B.105.CW - 26,206 miles Relined the clutch and changed friction plate and spring plate. B.179.AE - Clutch liners and friction plate only lasted 19,000 Kms. Repaired clutch on a 50% basis. B.160.EF - 4,437 miles. Relined the clutch. In the hands of some customers, the early type clutch does not have a very long life. We ourselves, however, have not had any serious trouble with the clutches of our trials cars. It is surprising on some cars, and even mystifying why the clutch pedal should lose its clearance so quickly. | ||
