W/S. To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from EFC. X5650 EFCl/AD3.7.29. 20 H.P. STARTER GEAR RINGS. With reference to your Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}14/E28.6.29, we have taken up this matter with Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} and Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} as suggested by yourself. Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} says that he does not recollect any case of damage in the way referred to by Mr. Peat, although some owners have complained of their passengers inadvertently treading on the switch pedal. Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} says that in all his experience he has only been able, two or three times, definitely to establish that damage has been caused to the flywheel starter rings by the switch pedal being depressed when the engine is running. He says further that on the more modern 20 H.P. cars very few cases of damaged starter rings have occurred, and that this has confirmed his preconceived opinion that damage has previously been mainly caused by something going wrong with the Bendix drive. He is therefore of the opinion that the matter does not require serious consideration. EFC. | ||
