RR 238 (300 Bks.) (SF 152. 6-11-18.) MP 197880 X. ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. INSTRUCTIONS. To: E F C Order No: PB 123 Customer's No: X 3445 Investigation of Faulty Coil No 3082 Chassis - LK{L. King} When received, this coil was given a running test in the usual way on twelve volts but would not give as much as a millimetre spark. At the same time it was noted that the primary current was high i.e. 1.85 amps instead of about .9. It was next tested for continuity and possible shortcircuits of the windings, when although OK as regards the former, the latter was made evident by the high secondary milliamps. i.e. 24.5 milliamps, the maximum limit being 15.6 milliamps. The resistance of the primary was then checked and found to be slightly low, the current taken at two volts being 2.45 amperes instead of about 2.0 amps. This suggested that a few of the turns on the primary were shortcircuited, but seemed hardly enough to account for the coil. cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Signed This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. | ||
