-2- ENGINE UNIT contd. therefore been set reasonably close for quietness. Petrol consumption on all Wraith cars is worse than 25/30.HP. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gh. is carrying out experiments on 22.G.V. to improve this. Actually on the Wraith car, the whole job appears to be held up for information from the Test Bed with regard to induction system. (4) The front engine mounting is now being changed for the 25/30.HP. type which we consider an improvement. Thus, picking up below 15.M.P.H. we attribute to the box frame. We do not consider it worthwhile worrying about engine booms on this obsolete engine. SUSPENSION This is being attended to by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT (1) This coil has been tested on two cars and found to be satisfactory. We can only conclude that the misfire was due to a faulty connection. We have complained about the poor method of connecting the high tension wire to the R.R. coil and Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EC. has the job in hand. We prefer the method used by Lucas. (2) These horns are present Production type. An experimental pair now fitted to 20.G.VI. are a great improvement for tone, but we have not yet had an opportunity to test them in mist and rain. (3) Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EC. is investigating this. BODY Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies} has all these jobs in hand. One of the reasons for the doors sticking is that the body brackets on the frame have collapsed slightly and therefore thrown the body out of alignment. These brackets have collapsed on all Wraith cars and have been strengthened for future cars and replacements. continued | ||
