Re Spring Load on Standard Shock Absor-bers.

Mr Platford reported that he had tested a large number of chasses fitted with our standard shock absorbers, having the spring load increased from 14 to 40 lbs. He had found this load to be necessary with our present flexible springs and had discovered no ill effects. He suggested that this load should be made standard.

In reply to a question by the Committee, Mr Platford stated that the spring pressure dropped on running for about 250 miles after original setting, about 5 lbs, but this did not afterwards alter.

It was suggested that it might be necessary to increase the length of the spring before this load is made standard.

The Committee agreed that Mr Spinney should go into the matter and report to the Committee.
