X4400 Expl: Dept: Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Cyl/LG. 10th. June 1929. Messrs. Benton & Stone, Bracebridge Street, Birmingham. Dear Sirs, For the attention of E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Milner Esq. We thank you for the sample Enots Lubricator G.7765 for use on Mechanics Joints. We have tried this valve and it has proved quite satisfactory running at engine speed for half an hour on the rig. We are therefore advising our Production Dept. to incorporate same on future chassis. We think, however, that there should be a stop for the screw which retains the valve in positions, and some locking device for preventing it from coming out. With regard to the design of the other valve, our Design Dept. has queried the stroke of same and submitted slight alterations. After a cursory investigation, their argument would seem to be that the present type of filter housing does not allow sufficient space for the oil to make a satisfactory exit. We are going into the matter to see if the slight change they propose is relevant. Of the last 3 filter housings submitted, 2 appear to leak under back pressure while the third remains oil-tight. Can it be that the facing in which the celluloid rests was not true with the bore in which the guide moves? YOURS FAITHFULLY, | ||
