CT to report on Raybestos linings. Raybestos lining is too fierce it picks up the drum and is noisy

Hand grounding now has no worse than caused by graphite grease, exactly) Lub. & dredging. Receipts discharged.

Harrogate results referring effectively, Tom H says - went expl. with owner & pleased 1) efficiency 2) Silence, durability - a true prophecy

R telegram - Try letter C1. suggest cold blast or whiter HY{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} or chilled. Try axle material such as... 8-7-14

** FERODO all round or on uppers. length (to means circumferential) aft 1/3. Improve positioning of actuating shaft o/c to Spottiswood undertook C1 has been used. Send me the car as soon as it arrives. Try black lead as lubricant. 10.7.14

R to Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} - ref. complaints - much variation. some grind away quickly to nearly others like Chas Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}-Na{Mr Nadin} pendidly. Try all in mottled or var grades for C.I. s/containing high % steel. Change in drum or C1 might make all the diff. 3) Dimol 30" of more use in length of drum or straps. 4) Ferodo linings or any other suitable non-seizing matl of 5) Offer a great favourite of mine with C1 o steel seizures prone. dig in at seizing - lined ends (Ferodo) aft 3". Rivet holes - iner. recesses, & fill special (enormously good) Carborundum Cup? Grapday. Go back to original leather system. Kindly put in hand all explts & let us know of any conclusive arr at. Make them enclosing & lessen variability of brake action by mounting diff equally shaft practic. PS since writing the afore' Reports suggest we have some brakes with fast C1 & the liners. 8-7-16

X2 Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} / MCT TRER EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} CJ now considers DRB from ple of Prime 10-7-14. Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} agrees handled & you filled in details 2 mths{Reg Matthews} ago. & getting of more reports vital & matter applicable. You've not yet received any from you. CJ also requested 5 specimans of your chosen DRB & del control. This work for our dept. their speciman has not been sent & CJ & the others 3 are of yours. We've requested 1 wk ago - no report yet to hand. (Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} says) D'm reporting to CJ open today giving him the progs. I exp to Unilever, & has from you to refer 3 o'clocks my report with time to contact CK{Mr Clark} before info.

EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} to Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} - in reply, 8 sets thro' normal test - 10-7-14. continues only diffi- inclined to squeak. Too Ref wear - clear evidence of improvement - Lining do not, especially wear out on test. - New dyna test introd. brakes run excessively & measures actual wear. & tests are being done to compass DRB & Central set etc. Report SA results & hand probably tomorrow. Also regularly supply. Car for Kelly & way & with new liners - Car RT today but no report from Kelly on yet. Car has done after 1,000 miles - Wear slight. 6 notches of Ratchet adj. Squeaks when pulling up on + brake. Confr. report Rdworth from Waldron, Blackshaw. Ward is away, this report will be provided S.A.P.

*** X2 Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} / Mer. TC Liners wearing out. Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} & R not able to wear out 1st & 2nd sets even with excessive usage. Exp with cyl C.I. made by Brittania Fdy Co. Not so effective & v.{VIENNA} quick to wear. 8 sets on test chassis cannot get any obtained from Wm Mills Wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} now being fitted on to car. more ref noise - 10% lead/Cu, cap squeak not so effective, quieter slight P.S. squeak. 5% 5" drumps lined with C.I. V.{VIENNA} quiet, not v.{VIENNA} powerful. C.I takes high polish & brongd & good surface, poss. lacking in friction. FERODO liners - v.{VIENNA} soft & were rapidly Drum became V hot (thro' non-conduction of liners) & drum warped. V.{VIENNA} successful. & Electric Railways & Omnibus. Die pressed liners opened up. Superior. Now been fitted to 1 car. Drum only keeps expans. 10-7-14
