x570 To By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. to Sft.{Mr Swift} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.1/JH.9.1.36. 20/30 H.P. Chassis- Radiator Matrix. We think that is desirable, but not essential to fit a 58 m.m. Mk.{R. E. B. Meade-King} V.{VIENNA} matrix to the big bore 20/30 chassis in place of the present std. 84 m.m. Mk.{R. E. B. Meade-King} III matrix, when this is economically practicable. Memo By/CS4/EH.20.12.35. gives the list of the parts affected by the change. We should like you to let us have figures as to:- (1) Earliest date for standardising this matrix without scrap. (2) Cost of standardising at earliest possible date. (3) Costs for various dates between those in (1) and (2) bearing in mind the fact that the new scheme of pressed metal side plates and top tanks with butted rear joint could be introduced together with the new matrix, this saving machining on some of the castings in stock. Roy{Sir Henry Royce} is in touch with Marstons, and will obtain the cost of scrap in changing from the old to the new matrix at various dates. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std. | ||
