X7350 c. BY/IND. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.A.C.VII. REAR AXLE. -------------------- In connection with the semi-elliptic controlled axle for EAC.VII, R.{Sir Henry Royce} has specified a new type of rear hub, incorporating the same type of locking as that which is being utilised for the lightened front axle proposed for C.2. Series. We are supplying you herewith the following blueprints:- G.74749. Locking Spring. G.74764. Oil Retainer & Locking Piece. G.74763. Sliding Piece. G.74771/2 Rear Hub. Will you kindly order three sets of parts to the blueprints in question, to be delivered as soon as possible, and will you also note that since these parts are suitable for use on the present chassis in conjunction with the light front axle, tools etc. should be pushed forward to enable us to adopt the modified locking scheme for the rear hub at the same time as we introduce the lightened front axle, which we hope will be at the commencement of C.2. Series. Usually, experimental work of this description has been ordered from the Experimental Dept. The departure in this instance is because Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has particularly asked me to pick out the parts supplied in the ordinary way for the EAC.VII. axle by the Dunlop Company, and send instructions for same to be ordered direct to the Order Office; a copy of this memo is going to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} so that he will have a record that the matter has been dealt with.
