ORIGINAL x.3619 RE BATTERY IN FRAME. x.3619 It certainly seems advisable to keep the battery to the length shewn in the original Lec. drawing. This was taken from the Willard battery, and we cannot understand why it is necessary to adopt so very long a battery or one which has the great depth shewn in your blue prints. I would like Mr. Clark to arrange with the Exide or Tudor people to supply us with a battery of the correct length, and more moderate dimensions. Personally, I do not consider it is necessary to have a battery of so many ampere hours capacity, and if so, it need not have the bulk shewn in the drawings. The deep battery has two objections, the first being that road material may catch the parts, and the second being the weight is so low that we fear the fixing would have to be very substantial. It is imperative, however, for you to be able to order at once, a battery of suitable dimensions, and I think the original battery shortened would be the best one to go for. How best to shorten it could be agreed upon between Mr. Clark and the Exide Company. The capacity of both the Exide and Tudor Company's batteries are so far in advance of the others tested that it would appear the dimensions and capacity could be reduced.
