Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/Tmn9/029.9.21. F.R. Re, Explosions in the Silencer. X3642 --------------------------- You will remember that we brought to your attention some time ago the fact that we are having considerable trouble from the customers in regard to explosions in the silencer. We have done all possible by adjustments to overcome this trouble, and in all cases have, by customers own statements, been able to effect considerable improvement, but have not been able to entirely eliminate the trouble. We understand that you agree it is impossible to prevent occasional firing in the silencer, and that you have this matter in hand, and have also reported the matter to R.{Sir Henry Royce} Is it likely that some improvement will be standardised shortly which will enable us to satisfactorily deal with the owners referred to above, as we should like to write them to this effect in order to keep them quiet for the time being?
